This brief introduction will give the readers an idea about the age-old ancient deity of Shri Shri Radhaprnaballava jeew.About 842 years ago this deity had been obtained supernaturally by Shri Binayak Sen Sharma, who was a chief-minister to Raja Ballal sen.(1160- 1178 A.D)
About 850 years back Shri Binayak Sen Sharma and his wife were sitting very depressingly, as they were having no issues even after 15 years of their married life. Suddenly they heard a sound that resembled a small child falling into water .To see what exactly had happened, he hurriedly went there and saw, little away from the bank innumerable bubbles of water. He dived into the spot and touched a heavy material instead of any human being. With great effort he lifted up that thing and found a beautiful idol of Govinda, crooked in three parts, made of touch stone. He embraced the idol passionately and cried out with joy “Yes this is my life beloved (Pranballava), living life beloved”. He told his wife, “You wanted son, look God himself came to us as our own son”. But after this incident, Shri Binayak Sen Sharma realised this idol of Shri Shri Pranballava Jeew is incomplete without the presence of Shrimati Radharani. After 3 days of this incident, Shri Binayak Sen Sharma received a divine command in his dream, stating that the idol of Shrimati Radharani should be made out of Neem tree that stood in the north-east corner of his premises and he carried out the command accordingly.
In the year 1168 A.D on an auspicious day, Shri Binayak Sen Sharma constructed the temple, where Shri Shri Radhapranballava Jeew was established. We find some facts regarding how Shri Shri Radhapranballava Jeew had been worshipped at different locations and journey from “Sukhchor” to a location nearby Barahanagar Pathbari. At first Shri Shri Radhapranballava Jeew was found in Sukhchor by Shri Binayak Sen Sharma. But there was a small history behind how Shri Shri Radhapranballava had been taken from Sukhchor to Bodhkhana. Shri Shri Radhapranballava Jeew was worshipped at various places starting from “Sukhchor” (which was in the bed of the Ganges), Kanchrapara, Nabadwip, Bodhkhana and then finally near Barahanagar Pathbari. In 1473 A.D Shri Thakur kanai came to Bodhkhana and took over the charge of worshipping Shri Shri Radhapranballava Jeew. In the year 1946-47 A.D riot broke out between Hindu and Muslims which also had its effect on Bodhkhana as well. At that time it had become really difficult to keep on worshipping Shri Shri Radhapranballava Jeew. And thereafter Shri Shri Radhapranballava Jeew was brought from Bodhkhana to Jadavpur, where the dual Deity was worshipped for 9 long years in a domestic house. Later two and half kathas of land was purchased near Barahanagar Pathbari and with earnest help of some devotees ,the temple of Shri Shri Radhapranballava Jeew was built. In the Bengali New year [27 Baishakh of 1366 (1959 A.D) the temple was built in 1/1 Pathbari lane, 154 S.N Banerjee Road.] Shri Shri Radhapranballava Jeew was established and till today he is being worshipped by thousands of devotees with love and devotion. Every year the holy festival”Pancham Dol” is being held and thousands of devotees used to have prasads( food offering to deity) , even the Maharajas of Barhanagar pathbari get the favour.
